Grafitti Vandal Convicted - Will Serve Jail Sentence

Graffiti vandal, Michael J. Atkinson who vandalized property by marking it with “WHO”, pled guilty in Criminal Court this morning. 

  • The police obtained 23 warrants;
  • Mr. Atkinson pled guilty to 13 warrants;
  • Ten of the charges were dismissed;
  • Mr. Atkinson will serve 10 days of jail time on weekends;
  • He received a sentence that also included 36 months of suspended jail time (suspended for 3 years);
  • He must perform 1000 hours of community service to be completed at DPW (most likely removing graffiti);
  • Restitution in the amount of $3,850 payable to private property owners, the City of Richmond, and VCU; and
  • The judge banned him from City Parks.

Officer W. Hawkins Kuper was instrumental in this success.
