Moving Forward with Richmond's Noise Ordinance

E-mail Print PDF

On February 22, 2010, Richmond City Council voted unanimously to amend our decades' old noise ordinance in order to bring it into compliance with state law.

Some citizens raised concerns during the public hearing regarding this ordinance.  I have heard these concerns and have committed to reviewing this ordinance with the goal of creating a noise ordinance that will last another 20 years.  Therefore, on Tuesday, February 23rd, I began forming a workgroup to address those concerns.

This group will consist of representatives from the Richmond Commonwealth Attorney’s office, the City Attorney’s office, the Mayor’s office, Richmond Police Department, VCU and their police department and an attorney from the Richmond Criminal Defense Bar.

I appreciate all the support I have received as we worked on this ordinance and thank the citizens of the 2nd District for their input and encouragement.
